City Council Meetings

On June 17th, the Dallas City Council took an important step forward by voting 9-5 to continue evaluating the future of Dallas City Hall.

No final decision has been made. Instead, the Council directed City Manager Kim Tolbert and her team to continue exploring options and return with additional information so Dallas taxpayers can better understand the costs, opportunities, and tradeoffs associated with the choices before our city.

For months, our message has been simple: before Dallas makes a decision that will impact taxpayers and downtown for decades to come, city leaders should have all the facts. Yesterday's vote allows that work to continue.

We want to thank Mayor Eric Johnson and Councilmembers Chad West, Jesse Moreno, Zarin Gracey, Maxie Johnson, Jaime Resendez, Lori Blair, Kathy Stewart, and Gay Donnell Willis for their leadership and commitment to ensuring Dallas continues gathering the information needed to make informed decisions on behalf of taxpayers. We also thank City Manager Kim Tolbert and city staff for their professionalism and dedication throughout this process.

We are grateful to the many civic, business, and community organizations that helped elevate this conversation, including the Dallas Citizens Council, Dallas Regional Chamber, Downtown Dallas, Inc., the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and the many business owners, employers, and residents who lent their voices along the way.

Most importantly, thank you to the citizens of Dallas who showed up, spoke at meetings, sent emails, made phone calls, and participated in the public process. The supporters who became known as the "Green Shirts" demonstrated that there is a new generation of Dallas leaders ready to help shape our city's future. We are especially grateful to our co-chairs, Tré Black, Amanda Moreno-Lake, and Bruce Orr, whose leadership helped bring together a diverse coalition of residents, taxpayers, business leaders, and community advocates.

While yesterday's vote was an important milestone, the work is not finished. The City Council has requested additional analysis, and we look forward to reviewing that information as it becomes available.

At the end of the day, regardless of where people stand on this issue, we all want the same thing: a stronger, more vibrant, and more inclusive Dallas that serves residents, taxpayers, businesses, and future generations.

Thank youfor being part of this effort. The best days of Dallas are still ahead.

Show up. Make your voice heard. Join us.
